Kateryn Plainway was a Spacefleet officer and classmate of Typhon in the Academy, and later served as his first officer aboard the D.S.S. Celsius. However, she was promoted to Captain of Celsius after Typhon was disgraced due to the capture of Ambassador Por'laalak-s'lalak-t'th'alak-d’lalath under his watch. After settling a brief conflict on Taboo, her ship was lost in the Epsilon Quadrant.

Sometime before the Battle of Geneosmosis, Janealdeway, her ship and her crew were lost without a trace. There was speculation that her ship may have been thrown to another side of the cosmos - the Epsilon Quadrant.

Plainway was played by Liz Noble. She is a parody of Captain Kathryn Janeway from Star Trek: Voyager, including bun-hair and love of coffee. Originally her name was going to be Kate Jane-Alltheway.
